Are there GMOs in my food?

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs at Wikipedia) are grown as food crops throughout the US. The genes from GMOs can spread into future generations of non-GMO crops, through fertilization from GMO pollen. There is no requirement in the US to label food that contains GMOs (1). However, using simple techniques YOU as a citizen scientist can figure out if invasive genes are present in your food! Soybeans and corn (maize) are common ingredients in many processed foods, and may contain the genes from GMOs.
